Synod Mission Development Officer, Tom Donoghue, shares news from Desborough URC.

"It was a delight to attend Desborough URC's Patch the Pumpkin event on Halloween. The front of the church was turned into a place of welcome for Trick or Treaters who were all excited to see Patch the Pumpkin, for the younger children this was because they have already met Patch at their Harvest Festival services led by the Revd Helen Wakefield-Carr earlier in the school term, and for the teenagers a sense of nostalgia to visit the place that has been a part of their Trick or Treat route for the past 8 years.

198 children took a treat bag which had some sweets, a colouring sheet and a book which shares the Christian message of hope, and many families hung around for a chat as they enjoyed warming up with a hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows! It was a great way to engage the community and show love and generosity."
