A New Minister for West Derbyshire URC
The Revd Peter Meek of West Derbyshire URC, shares the following report:
"On Saturday the eleventh of November West Derbyshire URC had the joy of welcoming the Revd Caroline Andrews to be our minister following the departure of her well loved predecessor, Revd Camilla Veitch. West Derbyshire URC is part of the North Derbyshire Resource Area and so shares Caroline’s ministry with the other churches in that Area. The Moderator, the Revd Geoffrey Clarke, led an inspiring, challenging and uplifting service, ably helped by the the two Derbyshire Pastoral Consultants; Revds Sue Powell and David Miller. It was so encouraging to have members from St Andrew’s URC, Chesterfield with us too.
St Andrew’s is the Resource Church for our Area and good relationships are building already. This is an exciting new way of providing stipendiary ministry for us and we are thankful for all that God is and will do with, for and through us in partnership with Caroline and the other churches of our Area."
80 years a member/ 95 years old!
West Derbyshire URC in Wirksworth celebrated with Eva Vallance her ninety fifth birthday on the afternoon of Sunday 12 November. Her daughter Joyce with help from friends served a lovely traditional tea in the church building which was followed by their Remembrance Sunday service.
Eva’s story is all the more amazing as this year she celebrates being a church member for eighty years - and all those years belonging to and serving one church.
It was a real pleasure for the congregation at West Derbyshire to congratulate her and celebrate with her.
