Pray With Us Through Lent

The Little Book of Lent by the Revd Canon Aruthur Howells

We are now in the season of Lent. The Synod’s Evening Prayers team would like to invite you not necessarily to give something up, but to take something up: join our prayer voyage as we journey together toward Easter.

Prayers are held most nights at 9.30pm live on the East Midlands Synod Facebook page; they can still be found there afterward and, in due course, on our YouTube channel. This year, we are sharing readings and prayers from the powerful anthology The Little Book of Lent, featuring great spiritual writers such as Desmond Tutu, Sheila Cassidy and Rowan Williams.

Our Evening Prayers consist of 20-30 minutes of devotions include readings of scripture, music for reflection and intercessions, where we bring before God the names of those who have asked to be held in prayer in this way. Leaders include East Midlands Synod Moderator The Revd Geoffrey Clarke, Deputy Moderator The Revd Jane Wade and partners both in the Synod and overseas.

The Little Book of Lent is used by kind permission of its author The Revd Canon Arthur Howells and publisher William Collins.
