What is a book?
Note: these help pages are all in a book. You can see the Book navigation menu in the side bar. At the bottom you will find the "Previous, Up and Next" menu. These menus are automatically generated.
A book allows the creation of content that has chapters, sections, subsections, or any similarly-tiered structure.
It is a structured group of content pages, arranged in a hierarchical structure called a book outline. A book's hierarchy can be up to nine levels deep, and can include content of type type Book Page+. The order of pages in a book is managed at Manage >> Structure >> books.
Every book has a default book-specific navigation block, which contains links that lead to the previous and next pages in the book and to the level above the current page in the book's structure.
Creating a new book
Simply create new content of type Book Page+.
In the Settings panel look for the Book Outline section.
In the book list-box select "- Create a new book -"
You should then place the NEW BOOK into the main menu.
When you save the content, it will be the first page of the book.
Creating a new page within an existing book
There are two ways:
- Create a new book page+ and select where it is to go in the book list-box drop-down.
Do not place the new page into a menu - the book handles all of this.
- Find the page in the book below which you want the new content to appear, then at the bottom, click on the Add child page link.
How do I find the new book?
You can see all the content on the site at Manage >> content - you can filter it to show only Book Page+ content.
